NCAAF Regular Season

Pick 8 teams from six preseason groups based on the AP Top 25: 1 team ranked anywhere or unranked; 1 team ranked 6th or worse, or unranked; 1 team ranked 11th or worse, or unranked; 1 team ranked 16th or worse, or unranked; 1 team ranked 21st or worse, or unranked; and 3 unranked teams.

Use each team only once. A duplicate selection scores 0.

Both scoring parts use the AP Top 25 after conference championship games, released around Dec. 4. A team in that poll earns 3 x (26 minus its final rank), so a No. 1 finish is worth 75 points and a No. 25 finish is worth 3 points. A team outside that poll earns 0 final-rank points.

Each team also earns 1 point for every place it improves from its preseason rank. For example, a preseason No. 15 team finishing No. 3 earns 12 improvement points. Preseason-unranked teams use a baseline of 26. Improvement only ever adds; falling in the rankings costs nothing.

The total points from all 8 teams determine the standings. Rosters lock when entries close on September 3. Nothing settles until the post-championship AP poll is published.
